ABOUT GRACE

Grace (she/they) is a 24 year old ceramic artist from western Colorado and central Indiana. Their work is visually informed by the communicative nature of body language, the physicality of human emotions, the simultaneously comforting and overwhelming vastness of the landscapes in which we live, and the capacity to hold conflicting emotions within ourselves. In her work's heavy, bodily forms, it honors the emotional barriers we build to survive, and lifts up self- and communal compassion in response to the Western culture of individualism that punishes care of one another. Her work celebrates vulnerability, support, growth, and love in the process of healing.

Grace creates in the intersection of vessels and sculpture with varying levels of utility and visual influence from nature and the body. Currently they are exploring the immediacy of body language in abstractly figurative vessel, lamp, and furniture/sculpture forms as a method of communicating and processing emotions.

Grace received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in Ceramics from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana in December 2022.
